District Institute of Education & Training (DIET). North East Delhi came into being on August 2003 as Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development under the administrative control of State Council of Educational Research & training (SCERT), Delhi as an apex body at state level. This is the Ninth DIET functioning at J & K Pocket, Dilshad Garden, established with the objective to bring qualitative and quantitative enrichment in elementary, adult and non-formal education of district North-East.The institute is being run with the initial in-take of 50 students of Diploma in Elementary Teacher Education.

The following are the key features of the institute:-

• Formulation and implementation of training strategy of the institute attuned with the organizational policies.

• Training needs and gap- analysis and alignment with institutional needs.

• Design, development and implementation of appropriate training programme to achieve effectiveness.

• Research and material development as per the needs of district.

• Leveraging internal and external expertise and making the DIET, a centre of excellence.

• Managing effectively the academic and administrative affairs of DIET, Delhi.

There are seven departments working collaboratively to achieve the objective for excellence are, as follows:-

• Pre-Service Teacher Education (PSTE) Branch

• In-Service Field Interaction, Innovation & Co-ordination (IFIIC) Branch

• Work Experience (W. Ex.) Branch

• Educational Technology (ET) Branch

• Planning & Management (P & M) Branch

• Curriculum, Material Development & Evaluation (CMDE) Branch

• District Resource Unit (DRU) for Adult and Non-formal Education.

Courses Available: Diploma in Elementary Education (  D.El.Ed  ) (Annual  Intake= 50)

Course Fees = Rs.700/- per month

·         No. of Journals    =   17

 From administrative point of view, the district is divided into three sub-division as under:-

1. Seelampur

2. Shahdara

3. SeemaPuri with Sseelampur being largest

The administrative heads of the district is Deputy Commissioner and sub-division are headed by Sub-divisional Magistrates. Most of the area of the district covers by semi urban area. For educational administration, there is district North-East.

The two main railway lines are there in the district, one which ahead, goes to U.P. State via Shamli/Saharanpur, another railway line goes from Shahdara Station to Ghaziabad, ahead Aligarh, Hapur and Meerut.

 The main road is G.T. Road. This is one of the prominent and biggest
